Adopting A Dog From Another Country

Once, when I held a lecture at a kennel club, there were many upset people, upset over adoption of strays.

Strays are mixed, and could have all kind off different diseases.

One lady said to me, “You never know what you get!”

I looked at her, and with a smile answered her back:
“Neither does the dog”

Giggling broke out in the audience.

And So It Begins

Today my children and I went with our Italian friends to have a look at their horse. They wanted my opinion about this beautiful, clever and sensitive horse.

Well, I had everything right when I explained their horse's mentality and health, so they wanted me back. It felt wonderful being out in the stables again working. Today, I felt how much I have missed it.

And, Olivia (in a couple of months turns 4 years-old) wanted so badly to ride (ok, this pictures shows something else, but this was the only photo were the horse looked good) that she cried, hanging around our legs. Well, I signed her up for her first riding lesson next Tuesday. Gosh I am as exited as Olivia.

When we came home Olivia said "And then I want a cow!"

That's daughter Amore!

Yvonne Haag, Andre Siedhof, Jussi, Rosanna,

Dennis and Rosa & Keegan,

Brian, Todd and Edison from JFC;
Vania and friends Nick Lauver and Laura, Stephen Dockendorff,

Jackie Diaz, and the Italian team: Rosella, Martina, Pio and Francesca

Rosa was also filming a video story for the Armed Forces Network (AFN) station.

What A Surprise!

Remember this picture? Last time we helped clean Rossella Shelter, we all fell in love with the dog Fiora. She was so different from the others, we could tell right away; so loving and used to humans. We found out she had been abandoned by her former English family, left in their empty apartment together with her brother.
Well, to every one's surprise, she had been pregnant, and when we showed up to clean the shelter yesterday, she had had these beautiful pups. And we can tell you she is a wonderful mother. She is having her peace in a small building at the shelter were she can nurse kind of in peace and quiet. Do I need to say "They are up for adoption?"

Fiora and her puppies are proof that there is amore in the world.

Cleaning Shelter Second Time

The alarm went off at 0500 this morning, it was time to make lunch for AWL volunteers that would be out in the shelter cleaning all the dogs today.

With a fever, I returned back home early, and I wanted so much to stay with the great people that are on a sunny Saturday working very hard. They have the biggest, unselfish hearts, and my hat is off for you all (more later).

Every time I would bend down, I' see stars, not easy with an ear and sinus infection, I wanted a dark corner to curl up in.

But you all out there today, thank you so much for doing this for the dogs. You guys are Amore!

Intuitive Children

My angel Olivia said to me one afternoon, when I wanted to sleep since I was so sick; "No Mommy please don't sleep, you fly out from the window"

Another time, we were standing in line. The guy in front of us forgot his keys. Olivia said; 'That is Reuben's keys" We found out that was actually his name!

Referring to her Godfather Benny, and one of his dogs, Olivia says; "He got pain in eye" Benny told me the dog sometimes had an eye infection and he would keep a closer look at his eye now.

Yesterday she came down from the third floor to eat and said; "Mommy I want to go up to my two friends that are on third floor." I wonder what spirit is up there that she sees that I don't?

All children are born with the intuition to sense or "read" the vibrations that are emanating from the universe. As they age and are socialized, that ability is often pushed back and forgotten. Some retain it. I pray that Olivia is able to retain this ability to intuit and "read" what is around us, but oblivious to most.

Great Friends

My daughter Olivia is very blessed to meet wonderful, interesting and warm people,-- and so am I. Here together with Benny Rosenqvist, one of the best Mediums... and Olivia's Godfather.

We also went and had coffee with Erika and her husband Bobby at their fantastic apartment. The view from their terrace out to sea was heavenly. Their two sweet dogs Athena and Akilles are so well behaved and charming. Olivia loved to lay next to them in their huge bed (the dogs). Giove will have a paradise family.

AWL also got a donation from both Erika and Benny from a seance they held with a group of people.
Linda, your bags of dog food keep coming in every week. Thank you so much!

Wonderful YOU

A big thank you to Himmelska Hundar and Farskfoder who sent care packages to the Shelter Dogs. Plenty of goodies for them to lay with and have a busy moment. Your companies are so generous to those who don't have an owner(s).

Benny Rosenqvist, one of the best mediums and an author, donated money that was collected during a meditation session.

Jennifer in NC you always think of us, thank you for your donation too.

PS: Still sick going into see the doctor again tomorrow.

Lui Is Free To Adopt

This morning Todd took Lui to the vet. to have him checked for any microchip. I was home, still very sick together with one even sicker Max, poor thing.

Lui was riding in the front seat of Todd's truck, and was a great dog. Todd reports he is the type of dog to go riding with his master, and completely enjoy it.

When they came back home Todd told me Lui had a microchip! I got so happy....then Todd continued, they were able to find the owner on the computer!

I jumped for joy, until I saw Todd's smirk-smile. "The dog was picked up by the dogcatcher, castrated, microchiped and released back on the street" (they do that here sometimes.)
So they told us we could adopt him, or release him back on the street again.
We can't bear to release him, worrying that he'll be run over or worse. But, we have too many as it is. What to do? We need a good family to adopt this gentle soul! He'd be great in an apartment or house, with single or couple or family. Very versital, we think, based on our observation of him for about a week.

Sick As A Dog

Where does that expression come from?

Last five days have I been walking around saying, "I am sick as a dog!"

With 40C fever, virus and strep, I am no longer a super woman. It is horrible being so sick and the kids home and 12 dogs....I which I had a mom who could save me now.....

Number 13 - We Call Him Lui

Yes, we got number thirteen in our house! For hours was he running around on the busy street, confused. You could see he wasn't street smart, and he looked at everyone that passed him in a hurry (normally longtime strays don't take eye contact with passing humans). He followed me and Max to the day care to pick up Olivia He wanted to visit the children.
Friendly and loving and sweet.
He was close to be hit five times by fast speeding cars. He flew up on the walkway, bumped into a girl that got scared (she didn't see that he tried to avoid a car) and she smacked him with her purse. Scared, he flew out on the street again, nearly hit by another car.
I had it. I couldn't watch this, or even worse I didn't want to find him dead on the street the next morning while walking my children.
No collar. But very friendly, and not afraid to walk into my house--my other strays are still walking on eggshells when entering the house.
He responds brilliant on English accent...so if you recognise "Lui" I know he have an owner somewhere, send me an Amore email. Or,send this blog to friends, maybe someone knows Lui Amore

Magazine - Wonderful Dog

Journalist Anna, and Photographer Per were on an assignment for The Magazine, Harliga Hund (Wonderful Dog--Bellissima Cane) from Sweden. A wonderful professional team that also had to babysit my children, that suddenly, went monkey crazy.

My babysitter called 15 minutes before they came and, cancelled....Well I thought this couldn't be so bad.
It never turned bad, it became a nightmare.....my children were everywhere, whining, fighting with each other. Could this be my children?

I felt like the team were covering a Nanny Program instead, where I as a parent, needed help with disciplining my kids.

But thank you Anna and Per I liked you a lot, you guys got Amore charisma, and did a fantastic job. I wish I could do this again, without children :-) and on a mission.

PS After they left, the kids slept for three hours
PS After four hours I had to go emergency with Olivia, she was sick
PS I adore my children

AWL Helps Tommy Get A Family

Three puppies was left on this Signoras street, and would have faced a hard life if not taken cared off. Tommy, was adopted by an Italian family that adores him.
He is a sweet heart.
Dr. Inga did the vaccination and a regular check up just to find out he is doing great.
A donation from the lady that adopted Tommy was made. Thank you so Amore much.

Good Luck Tommy!

Donated money does not go to "cleaning missions"
All the fantastic volunteers are donating the cleaning material --buckets, brooms, soap, detergent, gloves, towels, bowls, dog brushes, powder etc--and a lot of dog snacks.
6 hours off hard work on a Saturday, after a long week of hard work.
And many donated bags off dog food. Thank you so much for your big and generous hearts.

Kath (US) sent us a dog care package. Ylva, thank you for the bowl and cat snacks.
You guys are Amore.

Mission Cleaning Shelter

Thank you all great volunteers for today's mission cleaning. You did all a truly wonderful job.
Kristine, Rosa with boyfriend, Keegan, Jackie with neighbor. Siron and Brown, great job!
Dareen did an excellent grooming job, cutting the fur.

Vania and her husband with friends (3), you did a tough job very well.
Cleaning and brushing the dogs. Washing their cages and houses. Many were emotionally touched by the dogs and we hope we gave them a sunny day. They sure gave us a lot of Amore.

The dog "Fiora" was quickly everyone's favorite. Abandoned with her brother by their English owner when they moved to Hawaii (actually left them in their vacant apartment!!). She is around two years-old and so affectionate and well behaved. This dog truly deserves an owner to love forever!

Sarah and Bruce making lunch for the dogs.
In all, about 70 dogs and their approximately 20 pens were cleaned. We plan to mobilize again in 3 weeks to finish the job, hopefully with a powerwasher (for the pens) next time.

A Magazine is Coming to Campania

I am trying to catch up with writing, my passion, my life, but the last couple of days have just been full of work....and new surprises. Tomorrow I will write about a surprise that really rocked my feet (as well as others). For some it was good news...for others, heartbreaking.

One fun thing though will happen in the beginning of next week. A journalist and photographer will fly down here to Naples and visit me and my big family. Later I will tell you more about what magazine.....

First it was for a "home magazine" but I got "knocked out" by another big famous family here in Naples. One of Sweden's most famous boxers, Paolo Roberto ( I professionally like that guy, we lived in the same area in Stockholm)! But this journalist/photographer did some great research and realized that I probably was a better "fit" for another magazine....

We welcome the dog Amore magazine coverage of what we try to do in Campania.
