BACK AND FORTH TO THE VET CLINIC

This morning I dropped off our dear Abby for blood work and for Dr Damiani to examen her right front leg. Lately she has not used it, jumping around on three legs. I left her there for x rays and are soon going to pick her up. Keep fingers crossed.
So I went on base to do some shopping. When I walked out in the rain I saw something more or less crawling in the rain. A young Setter maybe pregnant.

She was in a horrible shape, skin and bones and "dead' tired. I called her, and it took long time for her to move, she was in a lot of discomfort. I took out some food and she took only three bites. She was to tired to eat.
My animal friend Jackie came and helped me lift her into my SUV and the poor Setter collapsed. In high speed I drove 30 minutes to the vet. clinic were wonderful Dr Damiani came out and carried her in. She will stay there under observation. Keep your Amore fingers crossed for this young beautiful soul that I named Daisy.

Dr Damiani thank you for your fantastic help! That's Amore.

ON THE EDGE OF STARVATION

This little poor fellow was brought in to Lega Pro Animale. Close to starvation, blood and mucus running out from his nose. Found abandoned.
A wonderful warm-hearted Italian man is fostering him and medicating him. That's Amore! We hope for a fast recovery to full health. Dogs are super troopers, like kids. We have much to learn from them.

WHAT A WONDERFUL SUPRISE

Remember this story on my blog (click before further reading)

Two weeks ago I got a very nice e mail from a warm family that had a sweet dog hanging outside their Parco gate. Could I help? I drove over to the other side of the "town" and to my wonderful surprise, it was the starving scared German Shepard that me and Olivia had tried to feed.
This wonderful family is giving her plenty of food, I de-wormed her, and the family gave me Frontline to put on Bella.
They don't know if they will be able to keep her but the are willing to do everything for her, to get her back in shape with AWL support.

Bella, is around 8 months old, shy but friendly and would be lovely playmate and friend for older kids, and of course a stable home.
Next week AWL is bringing her for sterilization and shots.
Last Wednesday I went and put a collar on her, thank you Charity for the donation. Bella is now in a fenced in area in their yard. What a lovely Amore Family!

Sully is Cold and Starving

At 08.30 this morning, I got a phone call. I totally forgot it was a holiday today, and family time, so I answered. It was Angie. With an upset voice she tells me there is a young boxer dog that is in a terrible shape, only skin and bones. She will not survive without immediate help.

I look with begging eyes to my husband who is home today; "Can you drive and take a look?"

Via cell phone and computer I am sick in bed, trying to coordinate everything; pictures are being sent to me; sure she really need help. She got some wounds on her back.

Hanging teets! Can you gently squeeze from her tummy and down, any milk? ..."No" Good, she doesn't have puppies somewhere that will starve without her.

Ok, bring her in to the crate in my SUV.

No veterinarians are open today! Angie can you have her until tomorrow? Yes? Good!

We will take her into the veterinarian clinic first thing tomorrow morning. Please keep Sully in your thoughts and hearts.

A Tragedy For All

It made my heart ache when I read this article, please read the whole article so you can see the whole picture. It is a tragedy.

I never let Olivia, my daughter, out of my SUV when we are "on mission". She can sit on her knees at look out from the window while I am working with unknown animals. ---Those few times she goes with me-- Normally I do the missions in the mornings when she is in school.

Killing Art

An animal activist / friend from Cyprus send me this information. What you do to yourself is one thing, but to an Innocent animal is without understanding. The so-called artist should have chained himself and starved while smelling food.

"In 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a so called artist, took an abandoned dog from the streets, tied him to a very short rope to a wall in an art gallery, and left a kettle of food on the other side of the room, beyond his reach, and left him there to slowly die of hunger and thirst. The so-called artist of such cruelty and the visitors of the gallery of art watched the agony of this animal. The dog finally died of famine, surely after a painful, absurd and incomprehensible torture. The prestigious Central American Biennial of Art decided that this horrible act committed by this guy was "art", and Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel actions in said Biennial in 2008."

This is not art Amore!
