Selfie with the Big Queen of the House

ChaCha a Cane Corso mix, is our rescue dog from Italy,  the Queen of our House. One among 11 other dogs in this house, she is the one with a dominant glamour. She is lovely, but also determine. ChaCha loves life to the fullest and can also tell you when something is not as it should be (in her eyes).

Even when she and I do selfies, ChaCha pushes me away.

However, for several days have I felt that something was wrong with her, you know.....mother feeling. Something!

Last week I went to the veterinarian with a sick Senior and I brought ChaCha with me. This big dog normally would snarl and snap, like a big Monster. And now we needed to take blood tests.

Muzzle on, and "big strong" people entered the room to assist. I couldn't believe my eyes, she was nice as a lamb!

I asked for many different kind of blood tests, to be able to quickly find out, in what direction we had to look for. The tests costs around 150 euro. --The veterinarian thought she also is over weight, 56 kg!

ChaCha gets one big cup dry food a day.....no it can be from that tiny meal a day! Something!

Three days later the test results came back, and her Thyroid is not working as it should.

Happy Dance. I knew there was something.....and together with a good veterinarian, that trusts your feeling (instinct).....that's what teams should be all about.

ChaCha is now on medication and after a month we are going back for another blood test. But, at least, we are on the right way.

WONDERFUL WINTER DAY

The last couple of day have been fantastic winter days.

Blue sky, sunshine and no wind.

Olivia wanted to ride out (on her Sunshine) and we also brought with us, her dog Twittie. Twitte is a dog Olivia rescued from a shelter were 500 dogs sat and the adoption rate was a couple of dogs a year. Olivia was only four years old when she adopted Twittie, but showed us all how responsible she already was back then. She has always been there for her dog.

Twittie is to left behind the Pony.

What Kind of Language do the Animals Communicate in?

My column in Tidningen Nära

What Kind of Language do the Animals Communicate in?

Can a foreign dog from Italy understand the Swedish language when adopted in that country?

The brilliance of animals is that they can communicate in any language.

Animals talk in images and emotions. Its as if we would see a silent film that changes shades like a mood ring. They have clarity in what they are sending and do not send out different or contradictory signals as we humans can do. We can say one thing but mean something completely different.

Children and animals have the cleanest and clearest communication.

What is scientifically proven is, when animals communicate (or small children) they transmit images. These inner images are 0.4 seconds faster than our spoken words. We can think of something and often the animal perceives (or receives) it.

Body language is of course also a major factor in the whole process of communication, just as with humans. However, the animals must be required to learn not their own language but also the human language.

Giovanni was a small terrier abandoned in a shelter. I sat down beside him and felt a tremendous sadness flowing from the little dog. He had lost someone he loved!

The owner of the shelter nodded, and told me that the dog’s owner had died, but the remaining members from the family didn’t want him. I laid down next to him and was only in the moment.

I was later told where his master was buried, and I took the dog with me to the cemetery. Directly, Giovanni jumped out and began to sniff, and then moved up to the newly made grave.

Later Giovanni jumped into the car and his energy field had changed. Several days later, we could see a huge difference in his behavior. He ate, and he eyes sparkled again.

At the cemetery, I could "think" the emotions in peace and quiet while Giovanni picked up "pictures". There was no one around that could interfere with us, with his or her negative feelings, or send pictures that they felt sorry for Giovanni. Pity turns into negative emotions and allows children and animals to translate them into a message of  "useless". They feel like “no one likes me”.

A few days later Giovanni was adopted. His new energies attracted the new family, an elderly couple, like his former master.

Animal Language has no words; energies can speak all languages. If we are clean and clear in our thoughts and flow we then become understandable. Swedish as well as  Italian.

FIGHTING LYME (BORRELIA)

When fighting Lyme Disease (Borrelia, and with its other infection fan club) the most important thing is attitude and laughters. And that is very difficult.
I have been very sick for a long time, and I am under a very heavy antibiotic treatment with herbal supplements and a special diet for 6 weeks. It is the toughest thing I ever gone through and every day is a battle field.

It is so difficult not to think of everything I cannot do, and to live with the pain, not to mention being scared.

But, I have a wonderful Lyme Fighting Friend, Laura who sends me funny dog pictures (we love dogs) and this morning this picture was waiting for me.

How wonderful to start out the day with a smile, and so important. Try today to find a picture (or post card) that makes you smile and send it to someone you would love to give a smile today.

That's Amore!

Surgery for Bull Frog

Photograph Copyright (C) 2008 Naples Friends of Animals
Last Saturday I wrote about the Italian Mastiff that was found with his leg twisted (and with a big chain hanging around his neck) He needs surgery to amputate the twisted leg.

I got an e-mail from Genni, the President of Naples Friends of Animals, and I want to share it with you;
"I know, this dog's condition is unbelievable and so heartbreaking. "Bull" as my husband calls him for now or "Bull Frog" as I affectionately say as he hops around, is doing well, eating a lot, and getting all of the attention and care that he needs and deserves. The heart that dog has!! It breaks my heart to see them like this!! Please feel free to post his pictures on your blog. I am also contacting several mastiff rescues in the States about this wonderful dog, hoping to get some assistance. "
Lets help Bull Frog! That is frog jumping good Amore!

Humans ~~ Animals Best Friend?

A few years ago, a neighbor came up to me obviously very irritated over his dog, a little old terrier.

“That stupid dog has chewed off all the fur on her ass!” He proclaimed.

Of course that comment made me curious so I asked why she had done that? “I guess she has fleas.” he answered.

“Well excuse me but who is the stupid one here?”

Elsewhere, it was reported that some teenage girls were running around an area and lit some horses’ tails on fire. When they were caught, the girls said they were “bored”… that’s why they did it.

There are quite many non-Amore people out there!

Towels & Blankets

Copyright (C) 2008 Mia Mattsson-Mercer

One thing that I have learned (the hard way) is how important it is to have blankets or/and towels in your car. It can help to save a life in an emergency, just having some old faded ones in the back of your car.

If you are out driving and spot a dog (or another animal) laying hurt in the middle of the street bleeding, you stop! and with others help lift the dog onto the blanket. It is then also easier to lift the hurt animal into your car. A scarf-- or something similar-- to tie around the dogs snout, because out of fear and pain he may try to defend himself by biting, even though you are trying to help him.

One person recently made a comment, asking why he should stop and help a wounded animal? He thought there were enough stray animals roaming around on the streets.

My answer; "Maybe you will one day come to an accident with people, maybe children are hurt. When they are going into shock they need to be kept warm. Maybe your old blanket could then save a life! A human or a someone's dog.. all lives worth saving."

A blanket can be a saving Amore!

Guess We are With Dog Part 1

For two days now --at Dr. Dorothea Fritz' Spay and Neuter clinic-- Todd volunteered with the German "Troops" to build new fences for the dog kennels (around 50 dogs waiting for new homes).

Long hours in the sun (29C) with hard work from eight men and one woman. (Yes, he got sun burned!)

Well my husband fell in love with one of the dogs there, and it is actually not at all hard to. All the dogs have their own story to tell, each that will touch your heart. A friend of Todd's said "We would like to have another dog too, but we don't have room." Todd looked at him and said "Malte, there is room for one more." and pointed at Malte's heart.

As soon as you get learn any dog's name, they become much more personal in your heart. When you continue asking about them, it will suddenly be harder to say "no" to two begging, loving, exiting eyes.

That is why many farmers don't name their animals. The animals would become too personal and alive! And no one would like to eat "Buster."

So, I guess we are with another dog now. That will make five when we bring them both (Trooper is at this clinic getting a clean bill of health) home.

This will soon become new double dog Amore!
