One thing that I have learned (the hard way) is how important it is to have blankets or/and towels in your car. It can help to save a life in an emergency, just having some old faded ones in the back of your car.
If you are out driving and spot a dog (or another animal) laying hurt in the middle of the street bleeding, you stop! and with others help lift the dog onto the blanket. It is then also easier to lift the hurt animal into your car. A scarf-- or something similar-- to tie around the dogs snout, because out of fear and pain he may try to defend himself by biting, even though you are trying to help him.
One person recently made a comment, asking why he should stop and help a wounded animal? He thought there were enough stray animals roaming around on the streets.
My answer; "Maybe you will one day come to an accident with people, maybe children are hurt. When they are going into shock they need to be kept warm. Maybe your old blanket could then save a life! A human or a someone's dog.. all lives worth saving."
A blanket can be a saving Amore!
