LILLY CHLOE

Olivia's school teacher had found this beautiful young dog roaming around on the streets. She and her family took her in and named her Lilly. The teacher asked me if AWL could help her pay for the steralization and they would be able to afford keeping her.
Like we have said before it is very expencive here with the medical treatments.
AWL always try to help those who help. So this morning when I dropped off Olivia and Max I got Lilly. What a sweet heart! She sat so quiet and nice the whole way in to Dr Damiani's clinic.
I told that we would also pay for a health check up, microchip and vaccination. We want a happy healthy rescue dog together with a happy family. That's Amore!

ABBY DUMPED AT THE GAS STATION

This is sweet Abby, she was dumped at a gas station, with an infection in her body and full of fleas. Shivering and cold, she tried to stay warm, she tried to lay under cars! Blankets were put out for her trying to give her some comfort. AWL's Jackie has been there, giving her food and water. And when Benjamin was moved to his foster-home, his kennel cage was cleaned out and new blankets were put in.
Jackie is a volunteer that can get the strays calm and they trust her, she is a joy to work with and has very good experiences. Today we picked Abby up and drove her to Dr Damiani for a health check up, since Jackie had found a foster-home for Abby. Abby is so wonderful she sat in my lap during the car ride. At the veterinarian, she laid on the examination table trusting Jackie, she trusted us both so much.

We found a microchip but when searching on the computer, there was no match. We will have to wait until next week to call ASL. She got antibiotics for her infection, and we de-wormed and frontlined her. Dr Damiani explained everything so well and I love when he explains and even pulls out books and shows pictures. Thank you, Dr Damiani for helping and giving us so much of your time.

Jackie drove and let Abby off at her new foster-home. Thank you Tiffany with family for opening your home to Abby.

Jackie thank you for your generous donation. You already do so much! Amore Tutti

Hit and Left... the closure

[This is a update to the "Hit and Left" entry below. Please read it first]

Sad news this evening.

The Vet clinic called to say that the blood tests on Franz were not good. He had a very elevated white-blood count, and signs of severe kidney and liver damage. They also believed he had tumors in his organ(s), and internal bleeding. They recommended euthanizing him.

Reluctantly, I had to agree. He was old and with these injuries, his life was going to be short and painful. Still, it was a tough decision.

So sad, no micro-chip. No collar or tags. No owner to call, nobody to mourn him, or miss him.

Later this night, they did the autopsy at my request. Here is part of the email I received from Dr. Friz:

Dear Mia,

the dog had a bad tumor in the liver and was hit by a car: bleeding in the abdomen, one of the kidneys was completely damaged. Thanks for collecting him and put him out of his misery.

Dorothea

Dear Franz, we are so sorry this was the end for you. But glad you are no longer in pain. Your work on earth this time is done. Bon voyage. Say hello to Morris for us.
