Home Schooling Children (1)

I have been homeschooling my daughter Olivia (11-years-old), for one and half years now, and Max my son (9-years-old) for four months.

It was a scary decision I wont lie about that, however, I had a horrible “traditional” school experience myself. However, I am very glad I forced myself and took that big step to start homeschooling my children. The reasons why I took them out from their regular school are different. My children’s needs were (are) different but what they have in common is working with their confidence. It will take me many posts to write about our Homeschooling Program and Thoughts.  I hope you want to follow our stories and us.

Many thoughts have become questions from friends to acquaintance. Several of you asked me to write more about it on my blog.
I spoke to my children about it and they also are thrilled to answer any of your respectful questions.

It’s a long journey to come to this decision, and a lot of research about Homeschooling, but today when I can already see the results, I am proud I dared to face the fear.

The first time I heard about homeschooling children, when living  in America, my feelings were mixed by several horrifying thoughts.
I kept them to myself, and I asked the homeschooling moms that I met along the way with the same questions I today get from many other positive curious people.

Please, every family is not the same and not doing the same as anyone else. You have to create your own perfect way. One must find the curriculum that seems to cover the needs you are looking to satisfy. The groundwork may be the same; different programs adding some subjects and taking away some others. When you find your way, you will develop confident, well-mannered, happy, loving, bright children.

I am so thankful today, that we can have this opportunity to homeschool our children.

Before you assume you know an answer on this subject, please send me the question, and I will gladly relay to you our experience.

Give me some credit to start writing and telling you our story; why we homeschool, the support from other home-schooling families and friends, and even “ordinary” schools.

Our homeschooling is not “forever” they will go back to school…..
but for now, it is the best option for our family.

That’s Amore!

Alaska a Beautiful Place

It was a long flight but we finally made it to Alaska. What an amazing place, we definitely want to go back and do some more hiking. The air was light to breath, the daylight was amazing until midnight, the nature was fantastic. We were invited to a wedding that I wouldn't miss for the world. A very special woman that I met for the first time in North Carolina 2004 together with her family.
I was so amazed that my children got to met her, this sparkling warm hearted woman.
Of course I got Happy Tears during the ceremony. I couldn't help thinking how fast time really goes and that we don't know anything about life--future. Only to dream big and have Faith.

Thank you beautiful Ashley for having me watching your big day, together with your lovely husband Mr. Castro (did I mention I went to Sarajevo?)

A Hello from America

Picture;Monty (dog) and Olivia (our daughter) when we lived in North Carolina.
In North Carolina, I met this incredable lady, Jenn and her family. She is an amazing woman in so many things, from children to animals, to enviromental knowledge to having a human "big" heart.
I love to read her e mails, she always makes me want to be a better person. Maybe I can call her my "mentor"?
Monty, her German Shepard is the biggest, goofiest, loving dog. I loved visiting their house when we lived close by, and Monty was always the best dog to greet you. Because of him, you didn't want to leave.
I always send him my love through e-mails, and yesterday I got a message back;

"Monty is recuperating from an elbow injury. He jumped off our bed and hurt himself. Poor guy was limping around for a few days. I was worried about him. I asked him to take it easy for a spell and he gave up herding the kitties for 2 days and snuggled on his bed. I was so proud of him! He got better and I think he's king up for lost time, irritating Isis, Morgan and Merlot (cats). I grumble at him about it, but I'm secretly glad to see him back in action. We played ball in the backyard today and he was so happy to be bounding around acting like he is king of the block again. He's keeping a watchful eye on all three "little siblings" (children) as I type this. I asked him if he wanted to say hi to Mia and he came over and gave me a big slurp on the chin. That's for you, I guess ;-)"

This is molto Amore!
