BONITA THE SURVIVOR

What a roller coaster ride for Bonita, we and her owner Mia in Sweden. But we finally made it!

Finally, after over one year struggling with this lady, we got all the "green" papers for the passport. Bonita, remember her close-to-death in a shelter, and we got her out. She spent so much time at different animal clinics and her foster parents David and Linda Bunn took her into their home for a very long time. They really made sure her health and spirit would be better.
Finally all her papers were ready for a passport. A whole year it took! Mia in Gothenburg, Sweden never gave up hope and that perseverance showed us what a great person she is. This past weekend, I flew in Bonita and another dog, "Freckles", and Mia drove down from Gothenburg (a four hour drive) to get her girl. When I walked out of the car carrying Bonita, Mia burst out in tears, sobbing and shaking, and we all hugged each other for joy.

Bonita got to meet her new man, Quinton, a sweet and gentle Pitt bull, and off they went to Bonita's new Paradizzo in Sweden's "second city" of Gothenburg.

And it sure is Paradizzo! Bonita has taken to her new home like a fish to water! We are so happy for you Bonita; your long struggle in a shelter, so close to death, is history. This is Amore.

Thank you Dr. Damiani for all your help and support with Bonita and others. David and Lynn, your support has been exceptional! You helped save a life!. And thanks to my family for making her last month in our home relaxing and comfortable (I sure miss her loud snoring!) and new momma Mia for never giving up on her girl. Lastly, for all the donations that helped Bonita get her health back, and finally into the loving arms of a forever home. We love and thank you all.

A SUNNY DAY FOR THE ANIMALS

Marie (UK) had told me about the puppies in Lago Patria and today I went with her to have a look at them and feed them. To my wonderful surprise their mother is the one I fed in Varcaturo for 2 years and then she disappeared. Happy to see she was doing well--and her newest puppies!
Then we drove to the NEX warehouse on Base to collect some dog food donations and cat food too. The cat food I gave to Lynn (UK) who is the Varcaturo cat lady. And the dog food we will drive to a new shelter we will be working with, this up-coming Saturday.

(AWL Sweden left Italy on a bus back home to Sweden yesterday--what an adventure! Thank you for everything.)

WEDNESDAY LAST WEEK

(All the pictures 2010 (c) Mia Mattsson)
Since we have been so busy I will have to go backwards in our happenings here. Well, Milla and Monica arrived from Sweden and we went out to Rossella Shelter. I wanted to give the girls a guided tour. At the same time it was nice to give Phillipo (who is going to Ulla in Sweden) a hug. He is great walking, and he loves lizards
Monica got to walk him too--and some other beautiful dogs.

I had earlier received 13 bags of dog food from a guy --he left them for us at the Base vet clinic--thank you so much! I also picked up a couple of plastic pallets on Base.

AWL has a new fashion line --- these beautiful scarves-- I love them. Scooby was our first model and I think he looks great. AWL thanks Himmelska Hundar and AWL Sweden for finding the scarves and Ulla for finding the great company Obidos AB, www.obidos.se for the print.

AWL SE also brought snacks, and three great walking belts and money donations. A big Private donation was also made from Milla (pictured with Scooby). Thank you for all the wonderful presents to AWL International.

We drove Scooby and Phillipo to the kennel Marco Sanna in Pozzuoli. It is closer for me to drive and bring them to the veterinarian, and we can walk them regularly, too. It also symbolizes a step closer to a forever home for them both!

AWL SWEDEN'S FIRST MEETING

Animals Without Limits had its first Swedish meeting, and it was together with brilliant and hard-working people who have also been in Asia working with the rescue bears, and in the Phillipines with the difficult work against slaughtering strays in a harmful way in the jungle. The board of AWL Sweden, are educated in many animal areas and know that it is all about the animals--we don't have time for the various, different drama.

You can become a member or for more info please contact info@animalswithoutlimits.se
or phone 08/7837720 (Sweden 0046 (8)...)

Picture above from the left, me, Monica, Katie, Ulla, and Milla

I am so thankful to have such a great experienced team, and they have sponsored us in Italy many times (upcoming blog).

Ulla helped us getting a fresh AWL hairline, --its tested on humans-- AWL loves this and we already had tried the shampoo on some rescue dogs here in Campania.

You can buy these products at Himmelska Hundar.

AWL is looking forward to work with postive people, straight forward animal lovers who are not afraid. Money for our clinic is already promised, but as always, if you have a special wish were your donations should end, please earmark them.
