Erika's Dad Watching Over Us

Olivia is sad to say goodbye to her new beloved friends Erika and Bobby. Has nothing to do with the text.

Giove's "parents" stayed in our house only for 2 nights. My daughter Olivia, who is only four-years-old adored them and wanted to be around them a lot. But the last evening she was up on third floor watching TV and Erika and I were sitting downstairs talking. Suddenly, Olivia comes down and is very exited in a positive way, saying to Erika; "Why you not on third floor, with dad?" and she points at Erika that it's her dad.

We both stare at her like we didn't understand what she said. Frustrated, Olivia says it again and again. I ask Olivia "Is he sad?"

"nooo he is happy" she said in a very comfortable tone.

Erika is looking at Olivia and says; "How does he feel?"

"Ohhh he is much better!", my little angel says.

Erika's dad died a couple of months ago at a young age. The cancer took him. Olivia had no knowledge about Erika's dad. He had been involved in the adoption of Giove in the beginning, very supportive of it.

Erika had been sad that her father would not meet Giove in person (even if she knew he would spiritually) Now she has confirmation that he has, thanks to Olivia)

Giove Pitbull Mix

His new family started the drive yesterday from southern Italy. Giove slept most the way through Germany. He is now on the boat over Denmark...soon home buddy.
You can read about Giove on earlier blog, many years in terrible shelter, drinking his own urine, getting mistreated. The couple saw his picture on this blog and asked to adopt him. After a long waiting they drove 22 hours to pick their little buddy up. That's Amore

A Picture Can Make A Difference

Remember this picture?
Ylva Drougge-Mercer was one of AWL volunteers at the horrible shelter and took this picture. I posted it on this blog. A couple of days later I get a question from Erika and Bobby in Sweden if the could adopt him?
This was back in February or March this year...the road have been long for Giove and bumpy, but tonight he will get a wonderful surprise, a big Amore Surprise.

Giove--Follow up

Finally, finally we are getting to give Giove a wonderful life, he so deserves it.
You remember Giove from the terrible shelter. Ylva took a picture that a wonderful couple in Sweden saw and fell in love with him. They fell so much on love that they adopted him and this was back in February! He was transported to another shelter, not as bad as the other one, but not very nice either. Paper work is a nightmare here and the change of microchip took a long time so we could start with all the blood tests. We transferred Giove to one veterinarian clinic in quarantine, tests and a hernia surgery, de-worming and de-worming and gosh everything.

We have paid, me and my husband, 700 euro for his treatment and lodging. And then the trip for him is not included. This is one reason why Sweden gets a lot of sickness and problem dogs since adopting a healthy dog is expensive and no organization can afford to spend up to 1000 euro per dog on many cases.

Today, me and my children picked him up and he was so sweet in the car, sitting looking out through the back windows. He was a good gentleman when walking into my yard and 6 dogs greeted him sniffing him very carefully and he stood absolutely still and wagged his tail.

Right now he is outside laying in his first grass ever, together with his former "terrible shelter" friends wondering...what is this green stuff?

Giove Getting Happier

We have all been able to follow Giove from the really terrible shelter (earlier posted blogs). How he got rescued, surgery from his hernia, and waiting for September to come to join his family in Sweden.
He is happier, full off life and love to play football.

Enjoy the pictures from this month. Happy Amore!

Some You Can Save ~ Some Not

Giove was saved from a terrible shelter, and is now waiting to go to his new family in Sweden. We are waiting for the results from the blood work that was sent in to an Italian laboratory, to make sure he is healthier than healthy.
Also, we are waiting for the paper work, change of owner, that takes forever, or so it feels. And another one could not be saved.

It's a rollercoaster Amore work.....it is not always about saving lives.
