FOUND OUTSIDE MY PARCO

We named her Blondie! She has an owner, her US rabies tag shows that hanging in her collar, but she got an Italian microchip. Of course the dogcatcher office was closed today so we will go in tomorrow to see what their register tells us.
We guess she is around 5-7 years old, very sweet towards children but doesn't seem to get along very well with other dogs. Can be that she is not secure, maybe she's not been around many dogs before? We tried to have Blondie in our house, but she is now camping in my SUV!
My fear is that she's been on the street for some while, she is thin and old chewing gum is stuck on her hip, and she is a little dirty too.
I sure hope she got an owner that will be so happy to get her darling back. Keep your fingers crossed.

Collecting Food

Currently, we are collecting food for one shelter with 500 dogs. Beautiful dogs, but the adoption rate is close to zero. You can make your own work, school or church collection event and later bring it to AWL's office.
Some organizations and shelters do adoptions here in Napoli, but then never follows up to make sure the adopted animal is still with the family that took them. Sometimes, far too often, what seemed like the perfect dog to a person or family, is found out on the streets without "street smarts" to help protect them, and the family no where to be found.

There are some people that should not have dogs.

I am so disappointed when someone loses their dog and they do not go out and look for it, I mean really looking. Maybe they drive through the area they say, but no walking "its a huge area"!
Fliers? They can't seem to put one together, even after I send pictures. The dog was his buddy, they really bonded. But instead of searching, they were out celebrating all weekend. They don't seem to be in a hurry to get their dog back.
Here are so many strays so what is one gone when thousands are begging for a home?

Abandoned Dog

Today I am angry, very angry and I am not supposed to complain, but I will. Call it a late puberty!

It came to my knowledge that an American (promised to not be more specific) let his dog out before going to the States for a month, the same dog he claims to love. He was moving his family back "home", and at the last minute, he claims, they couldn't take the dog (even though he claims to have made every provision to do so.)

Now he is back from the States, without his family, and says he regrets doing it and wants his dog back.

How many fliers have he made and posted? Zero.

Out searching? Don't know, haven't seen or heard anything.

He got the question why not call us in the emergency? Didn't have our phone number. Why not call someone who did? Didn't want to bother!

For the dogs sake help me find this beautiful dog. For more information read http://www.animalswithoutlimits.blogspot.com/

Like Lupo and Mario's family, there is ALWAYS another option. Pets are a life-time commitment, don't make it if you won't follow through.

Where Are You, Owner?

Day and night we have tried to locate "Oscar" in the system (read about him further down.) His micro-chip number seems to be a big question mark. Since he has the micro-chip, no vet facilities can perform the necessary procedures without approval from his owner. If we can't find the owner, we can't get him back to health quickly.

"Oscar" is skin and bones and very weak, which is somewhat strange, considering all the garbage laying around, and many people feeding the strays. He may have a more serious problem, but we can't even have the diagnosis done without his owner's approval.

Oscar is a mystery, help me find the owner, so we can start treating him more at the veterinarian.

Give Oscar hope Amore!

Lost Project Dog

(This story began 6 September... read below)

The Ipercoop project is not going that well and the reasons are different, and many.

I went back to the shopping center and found out that one out of the three dogs was missing. He was the sweetest and least harmful out of the three dogs. According to the store workers I talked to, he got kicked away in a harsh way, that made him disappear. The other two were still outside the store when I visited, but no sign of the one pictured.

Based on my experience and knowledge, it must have been in a "very not nice way" because "just" being scooped away doesn't make a dog leave his pack, not when you are "just a young dog"

I have been there asking around, but many people don't care, they just shrug their shoulders. One dog among thousands. I can almost hear them thinking, "Come on lady you've got to be kidding!"

My heart bleeds, and it is a lost Amore feeling.
